Hi Garmanvsfood family, we good?  Feeling a little stuffed from all the Christmas dinners and copious amounts of wine? ha! We feel the same. We spent Christmas up north with the oldies and we have had a time!

Back in London and we both do not feel like doing any cooking, plus the oldies sent us on our merry way with loads of food 🙄. Anyway, we decided to have out and ended up in Bermondsey Larder. The décor was really nice

and even though it is located on the ground floor of a hotel meaning guests at the hotel share the same entrance as the restaurant due to the lift, that didn’t disturb the vibe whatsoever for us. The food here reminded me of the dairy, and you know it is going to be spot on! Starting with squash & IPA croquettes, chimichurri mayo, crispy potatoes, chive mayo and pickle seasoning;

like come through UMAMI!!!!! To potato sourdough, malted miso butter and humus.. I mean look at it

The pickled aubergine, puffed rice and cultured cream though?  Now this was just out of this word, think caponata

but then it tasted like curry but was not a curry – texture and flavours, like the rice popped people! I promise you this dish felt like all the seasons in your palate!  Yeasted polenta, delica pumkin, oyster mushroom..

Never knew having pumpkin warm was a flex, because it is, bam! A darn tasty dish is what you get! I mean, even the broccoli was next level – purple sprouting broccoli, salted egg yolk, ponzu gel and shallots, and, because I don’t do onions, they served it up with the onions on the side, like hello! S E R V I C E! The monk fish was meaty and fresh with mussels, and the sauce was delish! As was the duck break, liver parfait, salsify and plum mille-feuille. The cheese course was blue cheese (a personal fave) with warm slice of cake that was giving winter cosiness.

Chocolate sorbet, hazel nut mousse, date cake, cacao nib tuille was pudding served

with sparkling muscat and I am here for it! The perfect way to close 2022 food adventures! From me and mine, have a fantastic new year eve celebrations and wising you the best for 2023!

Cheers
